Welcome

Video He arose

Our first hymn this morning captures that dawning of hope the first Disciples felt as they realised that the tomb was empty, and Jesus had risen even as He said He would.

Hymn Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

Reading Acts 10:34-43
“Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favouritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.  You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached—how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

“We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a cross, but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.””

Our next song expresses the great truth that everybody needs Jesus.

Hymn Mighty to Save

Prayer

We are going to stand and sing our next hymn which is a very traditional Easter hymn.

Hymn Thine Be the Glory

Prayers Lord Jesus as we look at this broken Easter egg, it reminds us of our world; broken by our sin and rebellion. Thank you that you were willing to come and put things right by dying for us on the cross. Help us to never forget what this cost you.
Risen Lord Jesus.
Hear our prayer

Lord Jesus as we look at this empty Easter egg, it reminds us of the empty tomb and
that on the first Easter day, the impossible happened. We ask that you would breathe your Resurrection life into each one of us so that we can serve you and bring hope to others.
Risen Lord Jesus.
Hear our prayer

Lord Jesus as we look at this Easter egg overflowing with chocolates, it reminds us of your goodness. Thank you for the many blessings that you pour into our lives every day of our lives. Help us to go into your world and share the good news of your love with those we meet.
Risen Lord Jesus.
Hear our prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Summary Today we have discovered that on the first Easter morning the impossible happened. The tomb was empty, Jesus had risen from the dead and death had been
defeated.  Jesus’ resurrection means that the impossible happened for us!

We can be forgiven and friends with God. We are invited to have fun with Jesus and we have been given a fantastic hope. So as we celebrate God’s goodness to us would you like to open your bags and take out the Easter eggs and offer them to the people around you? As you eat it, thank Jesus for His forgiveness, friendship, fun and a fantastic hope.

Our final song reminds of that through Jesus’ death and resurrection we have so much to thank God for each and everyday we walk this earth. The song also reminds us that the day is coming when Jesus will return in glory and power to reign with us for evermore. I would ask you to remain standing after the hymn for a blessing.

Hymn How great

Blessing

“As we leave today, with our hearts rejoicing in Jesus’ resurrection, and all that this means for us, let us go into the world to shine for his glory.

And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be among you and remain with you always. Amen.”
