1 Video Question
Shalom, or peace, is not only the absence of conflict but the presence of connection and completion. What do we all need in order to experience shalom?

Message Question
Share one idea that taught, challenged, or encouraged you as you listened to Carissa’s message.

2 Read: Isaiah 9: 6 - 7
The prophet Isaiah looked forward to the arrival of the Prince of Peace. His reign would lead to eternal shalom, righting all wrongs and healing all brokenness. Isaiah’s words are fulfilled with the arrival of Jesus. When Jesus is born, shalom is proclaimed. He is the King who brings peace and restoration to the broken fragments of our world.

Reflection 1:
What words or phrases stand out to you as you observe this passage?

Reflection 2:
Based on this passage, how does the Prince of Peace govern his Kingdom?

Reflection 3:
How can you help bring about God’s peaceful rule in the places where you have influence?

Reflection 4:
Pray to ask the Prince of Peace to govern over and through you this week.

3 Read: Luke 2: 9 – 15

Reflection 1:
Why do you think God first announced the arrival of the King to no-name shepherds? What does this tell you about the nature of God and his Kingdom?

Reflection 2:
Imagine being there with the shepherds that night. How would you have felt? How would you have responded?

Reflection 3:
Notice the words “highest” and “earth” in the angel’s worshipful announcement. What came from the heights of heaven down to earth when Jesus was born? How is this good news? Turn your reflections into a prayer to express your thoughts, amazement, gratitude, and questions to God.
